In 1950, he was appointed General Secretary of the Greek Consulate in Paris, where he had the opportunity to study classical art, Renaissance, and later European painting, and he met significant Greek artists such as Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika, Andreas Embirikos, and in Antibes, he met Pablo Picasso. In 1959, when he was elected Professor of Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts, a position he held until 1982, he resigned from the Diplomatic Corps.
