The painter Giannis Moralis (Arta, April 23, 1916 - Athens, December 20, 2009) was one of the most prominent Greek artists of the 20th century. His admission to the Athens School of Fine Arts and his teaching work there for 35 consecutive years (from February 1948 to August 1983, specifically) proved to be of decisive importance in relation to a series of choices and directions in artistic production in Greece in the years that followed. An artist who significantly influenced the landscape of post-war art in Greece, both with his artistic work and his teaching, he achieved in his painting the fusion of the classic with the modern. Although he was interested in various thematic categories, such as landscape or still life, his creation, both in its realistic and geometric phase, is essentially human-centered, with love and death as its axis.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
