Andreas Nikolaou was born in Cyprus in 1966, where he started exhibiting his works at the age of 15. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich (1985-1987). He continued his studies with a scholarship from I.K.Y. at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1987-1992), in the workshop of P. Tetsis, from which he graduated with honors. To date, his work has been presented in 33 solo exhibitions in Greece, Cyprus, and abroad, including venues like the Ianos Art Gallery in Athens, Skoufa Art Gallery in Athens, Eikastikos Kyklos Art Space in Athens, Rarity Gallery in Mykonos, Ideal Cultural Center in Patra, Hydra Gallery in Hydra, Pierides Museum in Larnaca, Lygia Demades Gallery in Nicosia, Gallery "K" in Nicosia, Opus39 Gallery in Nicosia, Gloria Gallery in Nicosia, and various other locations. He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including at the National Gallery in Athens, the Athens School of Fine Arts, Panepistimiada in Athens, Biennale in Turin, Helsinki, and Barcelona, Bonhams The Greek Sale in London, Maastricht/Vals in Maastricht, Pan-Amsterdam in Amsterdam, Realisme ’05 in Amsterdam, and Art Karlsruhe ’05 in Karlsruhe. The Museum of Modern Art in Rome presented a retrospective exhibition of his work in 2003, and the Pierides Museum, a member of the Cultural Foundation of Laiki Bank in Cyprus, presented an exhibition titled "The Portrait of the Minotaur" in Cyprus in 2005. His works can be found in public collections, including the National Gallery in Athens, the State Collection of Contemporary Art in Nicosia, the Museum of Modern Art in Rome, the Athens School of Fine Arts, the Ministry of Culture in Athens, the Ministry of Tourism Development in Athens, as well as municipal collections in Athens and Cyprus. His works are also part of collections in various banks and insurance organizations, such as the National Bank of Greece in Athens, the Eurobank Collection in Athens, Laiki Bank in Nicosia, the Bank of Cyprus in Nicosia, Interamerican in Athens, and various private collections in Greece and abroad.
