Giorgos Stathopoulos is a distinguished Greek painter whose artistic style combines elements of hyperrealism and expressionism. He was born in 1944 in Kallithea Trichonidos (Prositova). He lives and works in Athens. He studied painting and sculpture from 1966 to 1971 at the Athens School of Fine Arts under the guidance of teachers such as Giannis Moralis, Nikos Nicolaou, Giannis Pappas, and Dimitris Kalamara. He also ventured into set design and illustration. He held his first solo exhibition in Athens in 1970. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Greece, as well as in the United States and Belgium. He has illustrated a series of books, music album covers, and posters. His work is exclusively related to Greek themes. From a technical perspective, his painting combines hyperrealistic and expressionistic elements, but in a simplified style.
